Sassys Cafe sits right on Main Street in Cowell, serving up a straightforward, welcoming spot where locals and travelers alike can grab a solid coffee and a casual bite. This isn’t a fancy espresso bar but rather a family-friendly cafe that feels part of the daily rhythm of this coastal town. The interior is neat and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that encourages lingering over breakfast or an early lunch.

People drop by for dependable hot drinks and simple meals that hit the spot without fuss. The coffee here is a standout, consistently brewed at the right temperature—warm enough to enjoy without rushing but not scalding, which makes mornings a little gentler. Alongside classic blends like English Breakfast or Earl Grey, there’s a variety of teas for those who prefer something lighter or herbal, while the cold drinks lineup offers iced coffees and milkshakes for warmer days.

The modest menu includes approachable lunch options such as chips buckets and sweet potato fries, but the real local draw is their take on traditional pasties and hearty sandwiches. These have drawn comments from patrons who appreciate the ample fillings and nostalgic, homemade feel—there’s a genuine effort here to recreate flavors that echo old-fashioned recipes, which clearly resonates with those who grew up on similar fare.

Service at Sassys is generally friendly and unpretentious, often by local and younger staff, adding to the community vibe. While occasional mix-ups happen, the team’s approachable nature means issues get worked out, keeping the mood light. It’s the kind of place where regulars bring their kids and newcomers feel comfortable asking for recommendations.

Visits early in the day, around breakfast time, seem to strike the right note—quiet streets outside, a warm coffee in hand, and the promise of a simple, well-made meal. Whether you’re passing through on the way to Port Lincoln or settling in to watch the small township stir, Sassys offers a taste of Cowell’s down-to-earth hospitality, the kind that’s about good food, a friendly face, and a comfy spot to rest for a bit.

OMG Best Pasty in Australia!!!!! Old fashioned Pasties, how they are meant to be made. Full of flavour, lots of meat and the proper veg content and the pastry is next level!!! Childhood memories of my cornish Nan's home made pasties, they were hands down the best... these come close, just my Nan's love was absent but could definately taste the love that has gone into making these ones too! Please pass on this artform to the next generation. Ps. Great service too!! Both definately worth the drive from Adelaide! No Joke!!! Thank you Sassy Cafe for the experience!!! The only risk of this review, there may be none left the next time I arrive!

Food very nice - BLT, chips, breakfast pie, coffee, custard bun, milkshakes. Cater for food intolerances which is great. Unfortunately or order was taken incorrectly and one meal was not as expected. Also one of our group members meals was not served until the staff were reminded. Service was varied - the young lass who took our order was pleasant. The young man was a bit surly when one of us went back in to order an additional item saying, "is that all" to which the reply was "yes", and then said "are you sure thats all" in a surly manner. Not believing what was being said the reply was "pardon" and he repeated his question in the same manner. On the better side, when we bought our dishes in from eating outside he changed his tune, thanking us and wishing us a good day. Perhaps just having a bad day ?? Plwnty of indoor seating and the outside seating under the verandah is great, and is dog friendly. Thanks for the nice food. See you in the future.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stopped in at Sassy’s Café on our way to Port Lincoln, just looking for a quick coffee around 7am — and honestly couldn’t have picked a better spot. It looked so inviting we ended up staying for breakfast too. The café is super clean, beautifully set up and has such a lovely, relaxed feel. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and the young guy who made my coffee was just the sweetest. The coffee was perfect, the food was delicious, and it was those little thoughtful touches like the water dispenser and glasses that really stood out. Couldn’t be more impressed and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re passing through. Such a great find!

What can I say about Sassys Cafe. the food is amazing, the staff are friendly and accommodating, coffee was hot but not burn your tongue hot like most places so very easy to enjoy. When ever I'm up this way again I will be stopping here and if you haven't eaten here yet your a seriously missing out on great freshly cooked meals. There chicken burgers is succulent, the burger with the lot is cooked perfectly and the steak sandwich is made with genuine steak cuts. If your a local please support this business as I hope to see them continue there brilliant work.

No cheese and bacon pasties, but the normal one was great, didn't get the opportunity to meet Sassy Cassy, but the staff there were wonderfully friendly and a little bit sassy too. The coffee was great. Will definitely call in again.
